The Advanced Institute for Ocean Research (AIOR) of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is a scientific research institution, dedicated to efficiently conducting organized scientific research, coordinating ocean-related resources, planning and undertaking major strategic tasks in the ocean field, and enhancing the university’s capability for innovation in ocean science and technology, scientific research support services and high-end talent training. AIOR aims to make important contributions to elevate SUSTech into a world-class institution in ocean discipline and an outstanding first-class university.

The AIOR/Shenzhen Ocean University Preparatory Office is leading the task of integrally establishing the Shenzhen Ocean University (SOU), the Deep Ocean Research Center, and the Ocean Museum. This initiative aims to cultivate urgently needed top-tier talents, promote Shenzhen’s “20+8” industrial clusters, and support the city’s vision to become a global leading ocean city.

SOU is located in the Dapeng New District of Shenzhen. The main campus began construction on July 20, 2023, with expected completion by 2026. The construction of the Deep Ocean Research Center and Ocean Museum is also progressing rapidly.

I. Research Directions

The AIOR/SOU focuses on the following three research directions: Ocean Electronics and Information, Ocean New Energy and Engineering, Artificial intelligence.

1. 海洋電子信息：包括數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)、通訊技術(shù)、水下機(jī)器人等；研發(fā)使用聲波、激光、電磁波等手段發(fā)展水面、水下、海底跨域信息傳輸?shù)耐ㄐ偶夹g(shù)；開(kāi)發(fā)衛(wèi)星、岸基、基站、鄰近空間、底基組網(wǎng)等技術(shù)；運(yùn)用大數(shù)據(jù)、人工智能和高性能計(jì)算技術(shù)，對(duì)海量海洋觀(guān)測(cè)數(shù)據(jù)進(jìn)行分析與數(shù)字孿生建模。

Ocean Electronics and Information: Including data science, communication technology, underwater robotics; research and development of communication technologies that use sound waves, lasers, electromagnetic waves and other transmission methods to enable cross-domain information transfer on the sea surface, underwater and seabed; also develop networking technologies for satellites, shore stations, base stations, adjacent spaces, and bottom-based systems; Leveraging big data, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing to analyze large-scale ocean observation data and develop digital twin models of ocean systems.

2. 海洋新能源：研發(fā)海洋新能源（風(fēng)能、氫能、太陽(yáng)能、波浪能、溫差能等）的開(kāi)發(fā)、利用技術(shù)與評(píng)估，構(gòu)建清潔、低碳/無(wú)碳、高效的海洋新能源體系。

Ocean New Energy: Including assessing, developing and utilizing marine renewable energy sources such as wind, hydrogen, solar, wave, and thermal gradient energy, to create a clean, low-carbon, and efficient energy system for ocean applications.

3. 人工智能：聚焦人工智能技術(shù)賦能海洋裝備制造、海洋能源開(kāi)發(fā)、海洋生命健康、海洋科學(xué)研究等全場(chǎng)景應(yīng)用。

Artificial Intelligence: Concentrate on AI-enabled applications across the entire marine domain, including marine equipment manufacturing, ocean energy development, marine life and health, and marine scientific research.

（1）教學(xué)科研系列包括講席教授（頂尖科學(xué)家、院士等）、教授、副教授、助理教授，按“準(zhǔn)聘-長(zhǎng)聘”方式聘用；

II. Positions

The recruitment positions are divided into two tracks: the “Teaching and Research Track” and the “Research Track”.  We warmly welcome outstanding doctoral graduates to join us!

(1) The Teaching and Research Track includes chair professors (top leading scientists, academicians, etc.), professors, associate professors, and assistant professors, all on a tenure-track basis.

(2) The Research Track includes research professors, research associate professors, and research assistant professors.
